Joy Peterson

I am a Health and Wellness Coach and co-owner of Peterson Holistic Services. 

I believe wellness is a way of life, and that being well requires practicing a set of skills daily that can support and maintain your ideal health and wellness state. 

My passion for Holistic Wellness started when I was 17, when I began struggling with Depression, Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. 

Medication alone wasn't enough to help me have the quality of life that I wanted, so I began researching and studying on my own the effects of the foods I eat and how they affect my mental health, the positive benefits exercise has on my moods and my body, and most recently how massage therapy can help improve my parasympathetic nervous system function, increasing my quality and amount of sleep, allowing my body to learn to relax helping my anxiety symptoms, and help my body create endorphins (those feel good hormones) to ease my depression.

I have used these tools for 20 years and they have worked so well for me that I want to help you improve your quality of life with them. 

Kevin Peterson

I am a Health and Wellness Coach and co-owner of Peterson Holistic Services  I believe that wellness is a personal journey and you have the capacity to find your own way to personal wellness. 

I have over eight years of experience working hands on with clients as a Licensed Massage Therapist and understand that getting to know you as an individual and listening to your specific experiences, preferences, and needs is crucial to being able to meet you where you are to provide the best results possible. 

To deepen my knowledge, I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biochemistry from Drake University. Knowing that bodywork is only part of the picture to make permanent changes in your posture and movement capabilities, I have added a National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training Certification to my credentials, and have developed movement services that not only build strength, but enhance mobility and balance.

Janet Shoeman

I have been training in Tai Chi for 25 years and have taught for 15 years.  I practice Yang, Chen and Wu/Hao styles of Tai Chi as well as sword, fan and staff. 

I am currently a practicing student of Zhizun Xu, 6th generation Wu practitioner and student of Grand Mas I ter Zhong.  I believe that all people can benefit from this ancient practice.  

I have a background in working with people with disabilities and have brought that knowledge with me into teaching Tai Chi.  I have had Tai Chi students who have had diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, Parkinson’s, blindness, fibromyalgia, arthritis, Essential Tremors, mental health issues and multiple sclerosis.

I have had students with mobility problems, both temporary (injuries), and long term (use of single or double canes).  Tai Chi can and should be adapted to the strengths and need of each individual player.
